The builders of the world’s biggest particle collider are being sued in federal court over fears that the experiment might create globe-gobbling black holes or never-before-seen strains of matter that would destroy the planet.

Representatives at Fermilab in Illinois and at Europe’s CERN laboratory, two of the defendants in the case, say there’s no chance that the Large Hadron Collider would cause such cosmic catastrophes. Nevertheless, they’re bracing to defend themselves in the courtroom as well as the court of public opinion.

So the question now is not just “How dead is she?” but “When will she realize it?”

Phillip Cunio celebrated his wife’s birthday from Mars. He held a card up to his habitat webcam so she could see it online, and fellow crew members baked a cake.

The ridiculous story of the day is that Frank Milio is one of two 93 year olds that got caught up in a prostitution sting in Florida. The other man is Carlos Underhill, also 93 years old and he will not be charged. According to police records, in November of last year, Frank Milio tried to pay an undercover police officer $20 for sex.

US Navy Admit Shooting Civilian on Suez Canal

The U.S. embassy in Cairo is admitting that an Egyptian citizen was killed when a U.S. Navy-contracted ship fired warning shots at approaching motor boats in the Suez Canal.

In the immediate aftermath of the late Monday incident, U.S. officials maintained that according to the security team on the ship, the Global Patriot, there were no casualties. That angered family of the reported victim, 27-year-old Mohammed Fouad, who has been buried.

The embassy said in a statement Wednesday that “It appears that an Egyptian in the boat was killed by one of the warning shots.”
